I am sure many of you know the iPad is now out and a very popular device that many have already purchased by now.
Now the big question is: “Do I need an iPad?”
There are currently two versions available one with just Wi-Fi and one with Wi-Fi and 3G available which requires a separate data plan purchase which comes in different flavors (250MB or unlimited). Now I believe many of you are wondering well if I get the 250MB package can I upgrade? Well the answer is yes as an upgrade feature is available right inside the iPad. There are also new apps being created for the device that are also available for the iPhone/iTouch. But since this is a new device there will probably be apps built exclusively for the iPad.
Now you might also be wondering what could I use this for? Well here are a few things you could possibly use the iPad for:
-A reader for your eBooks
-A nice music player for your iTunes collection
-A movie player for your videos on the go, so you do not have to take your home tv with you out the door
-A network administrator device when doing inventory for a large server farm.
-A tech machine for when you go out to clients houses or businesses to look up their order and verify that everything is good to go and add new things there on site if needed.
-If your a sales/margeting agent for your company having the iPad and your companies software out and about can help you improve your presentation when seeking out those new clients.
-A presentation controller would be a very good use for this. Ever did a presentation and got tired of looking weird with the mouse or missing critical features with those pointers? Well the iPad could help this problem go away and not have you stuck at the laptop during presentations.
-To make some extra money if your a developer – you can build iPad apps for general users or business users to help bring in some additional revenue streams.
There are many more possibilities for the iPad but you would have to take a look at it’s features and offerings to see if it is something that would have a ROI (return on investment) for you in the short or long term. For IT companies this could pay off big time in terms of productivity, and connectivity between the companies systems that the iPhone, just can’t cover in it’s small screen compared to the iPads 9.7 inch screen.
I encourage many of you to check the product out at your nearest apple store to see how it fits your life/business.
